InnovateUK (Ze-Gen Programme) -SEP

PAS Solar, a solar home system leasing and distribution company serving off grid communities in Northern Nigeria, has been operating for 7 years + (through Covid and beyond). It has a resilient business model and has accumulated valuable experience of serving its customers through difficult times. It’s the resilience and expertise of the PAS Solar team that is at the heart of the SEP project. The Solar Energy Portal (SEP) is a simple and practical solution to provide cheaper, cleaner and more reliable power to businesses who currently have access only to noisy, dirty and expensive fossil fuel gen-sets. As part of the InnovateUK, Z-Gen programme, SEP has been funded to provide a pilot Solar Energy Portal, combining robust locally available materials with modular, scalable assembly and much needed utilities. As we accelerate towards an increasingly distributed and decentralised energy system globally, the SEP solution offers a platform to harness that future in communities that most need it; from access to power to replace fossil fuel generation, to enabling e-mobility and access to the internet, all delivered by an experienced and skilled team with a proven track record of resilience and execution. The SEP project, supported by InnovateUK, is poised to prove out its model to provide a commercially viable route to fossil fuel gen-set replacement in Northern Nigeria and beyond by the delivery of its prototype in Q1 2025. In order to unlock a further Innovate funding, the project is seeking aligned and patient capital providers focussed on deep impact for the next phase of development.
